Melvins Poster

This three color screen printed poster is limited to 69 copies (half of which were hopefully sold last night at the Melvins show in Fargo).

It measures 11″ x 17″ and each one is signed and hand numbered by myself. They are available for purchase for $25 shipped to anywhere in the United States. Send payment via paypal to veggiedogsaturn@gmail.com and please include a shipping address in the notes section of the payment.

I will post “Sold Out” below the image once they’re gone so as of now I still have copies for sale.

The idea for the poster popped into my brain one night while lying in bed next to my sleeping wife. After I drew the lettering and shit chickens, my ten year old son helped sharpie in the black areas. Next I made separate color files in photoshop and took it to my friend Poppy who has a screen printing business here in Dayton. I watched him do all two hundred seven hand pulls of ink to make this thing come alive! Poppy is the best and I can’t thank him enough for his tireless efforts to make my design into such a sweet poster.

The Melvins are pretty much my favorite living humans producing artwork of any kind here on planet Earth so when my design was accepted to be one of their official gig posters I was pretty darned pleased. Thanks to the band and Justin McNeal at Secret Serpents for all the help.

Samson #1

Samson #1 by writer/artist Don Stephenson will be hitting the shelves in June. Don asked me to color the cover and the above is the result. I love Don’s artwork and it was really fun to color. Be sure to check it out next month! For further info about this and other great Sparkle Comics publications click here.

Defenders of the Planets #1 Original Ending

Defenders of the Planets #1 was originally intended to be a meditation on the surreal and metaphysical. Matt Brassfield and I have long been interested in debating philosophical themes, particularly the nature of what is or isn’t “real”.

Many a long night we have spent drinking wine and pontificating upon the likelihood of our being merely a thought in the imagination of a being not yet comprehended by our kind.

It is a distinct possibility that our very lives are not actions of our own instigation, but solely the commands of an unseen force.

But in the interest of public approval and to prevent an uprising of the proletariat, the higher-ups at Sparkle Comics insisted we water down the concepts for easier consumption.

Now the comic is little more than a distraction, a temporary musing on this long bus ride that is life.
So, here for the first time is the uncensored ending to Defenders of the Planets issue one.

It is my sincere hope that the few of you who view this page will be inspired to take control of your own lives for the first time and be complacent no more.
Okay, I think that’s it…

Also, be sure to check out issue two coming this August from Sparkle Comics.

Squad Car APA #3

Issue three of the Squad Car APA features an awesome lineup of artists including Matt Jones, Ty Kinard, Ian Morris, Billy McKay, Joseph Tenney, Harrison Bridges, Dustin Trimble and myself.

Some color pages, some black and white, featuring comics, illustrations and experiments galore. There are even a few mini-comics embedded into the book! It is a great anthology that I’m honored to be a part of.

Thanks to Joseph and Matt for assembling this crazy thing.

The print run on this book is tiny and I’m not sure if copies are still available but you can definitely send a few well concealed bucks to Joseph Tenney at 913 Eastview St. Shelby, NC. 28152 for some quality comics.

Lung

Lung is one of the most powerful musical acts I’ve had the pleasure of seeing perform live. Cincinnati’s Kate Wakefield and Daisy Caplan play with so much vehemence you would think you were hearing a five piece band unleash the fantastic presence that is a Lung gig.

But no, it’s just these two amazing monsters.

Check them out here.
And be sure to see them live. They are something to behold.
