For years I assumed anything Bob Dylan did after the ’70’s was going to be crap. I proved myself wrong when I picked up a half dozen of his more modern records from the library a couple of months ago. Some of it isn’t the best but a lot of it surprised me. I guess I just wanted to say that although his ’60’s stuff is always going to be my favorite he’s put out some good stuff in the last twenty years. Check it out if, like me, you avoided it.

This guy has been one of my favorite humans since I was a teenager. I’m not a big fan of Inland Empire or Dune but other than that I consistently love the magic this man pulls out of the recesses of his mind and shares with the rest of us.

Although he’s not my favorite director he has easily made more movies I like than any other two directors. And The Purple Rose of Cairo is one of the best films I’ve ever seen. It’s up there with Twister.

The first Leonard Cohen song I ever heard was Everybody Knows. It was in the film Pump Up The Volume which I saw when I was probably about twelve years old. Even though I loved that song for some reason I never bought any of his albums until years later when I saw another film featuring his music… Natural Born Killers.

There were two or three of his songs in that film and they were all fantastic. I went out and bought a best of Leonard Cohen cd which held me over for quite some time.

Then just a couple of years ago I found a used copy of his Live In London double album and decided to pick it up. Without a doubt it has become one of my all time favorite cds and I listen to it all the time while I draw. His voice… his lyrics… his music… he’s one of the best.

If I’m one tenth as awesome when I’m 79 I’ll be happy.

Man I love Prince. Purple Rain might be my favorite album of all time. And I’ve never thought of myself as bisexual but I’m comfortable telling you that I’d make out with Prince all night long if given the chance.
