Queen of Dark

Tuesday, February 19th, 2019

Yesterday while watching my wife flip through a fashion magazine I saw a striking image. It was a picture of South Sudanese-American model Nyakim Gatwech. I immediately began this pencil drawing of the beautiful “Queen of Dark” which I finished this morning before breakfast.

I like to listen to instrumental music while I draw and this one was done amid the fantastic soundtrack work of Ennio Morricone and Trent Reznor (in case for some odd reason you’re keeping track).

This is a sketch I did today at We Care Arts. Homer was a magnificent painter who worked with watercolor and oil and even did some printmaking in his time. What a fellow!

Joe Bonomo was a silent film star, stuntman, weightlifter and strongman who I recently found out about when I picked up a book about him for twenty nine cents at a local thrift store. We have the best thrift stores here in Dayton. THE BEST!
