Happy Birthday, Jack!

Sunday, August 28th, 2016

Today is Jack “King” Kirby’s 99th birthday! Even though he died back in 1994, his creations are loved today as much as ever. I dare say I couldn’t go an entire day without seeing his artwork or one of his creations, even if I didn’t have one tattooed on my body.

He changed the world of comics, and he certainly changed the world.

So here’s my Kirby version of a self portrait. Happy birthday, Jack!

Aww yeah. Here tis. Local comics enthusiast (and publisher of the upcoming Apogee Comics) Wheeler Hall asked four Dayton area comics artists to contribute to a website he mindbirthed wherein each artist would submit their different versions of a particular subject on a bi-weekly basis. Along with myself you’ve got Patrick Kain, Jeff Potter and Eric Shonborn. Talented fellas all. The site is called Ok, PANIC! and it went live on Saturday, March 27th, so rush on over to to check it out.

Incidentally, this post here is my self portrait for the site. Don’t look too close or those nips may getcha.
