Sailor

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

This is the cover to the comic book “Sailor” written by Brian John Mitchell and drawn by me. It’s a kind of Twilight Zone style mini-comic about an old sailor alone on a boat.

It’s one of three comics Brian wrote that will be placed into bottles and released into rivers, oceans and possibly even a tributary or two for future generations to find and puzzle over. There’s a Kickstarter page for the project and the first person to donate $200 gets the original artwork to Sailor (plus tons of other goodies)! But if you don’t want to dig that deep there are plenty of other pledge amounts you can consider. Check out the Kickstarter page here and a youtube promo video here.

Also, just click on the icon above all this blah blah blahing for a four page preview of the comic.

The Veggie Dog Saturn Special

Wednesday, April 18th, 2012

Almost a year in the making this is without a doubt the best issue of Veggie Dog Saturn! Features 8 collaborative stories by myself and such mini-comics giants as Kurt Dinse, Joe Grunenwald, Chris Hoium, Pat Kain, Jason Martin, Carrie McNinch, Brian John Mitchell and Eric Shonborn! As if that wasn’t enough there’s an amazing wraparound cover featuring the sweet sweet artwork of Jeff Potter and the coloring prowess of Wheeler Hall!

These little treasures retail for a mere $3 and will be available at SPACE this weekend in Columbus, Ohio as well as at Mavericks Cards and Comics in Kettering, Ohio. Or you could simply send the three bucks (postpaid) directly to me at Buyer Beware Comics po box 20083 Dayton, Oh. 45420 (or via paypal at veggiedogsaturn@gmail.com).

Easily the most exciting comic project I’ve ever been involved with featuring an insanely diverse mix of some of my absolute favorite mini-comics artists of all time. If you only ever buy one comic from me this is the one. I’ll die a happy man because of this thing!

Cerebus

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

Dave Sim‘s Cerebus has long been one of my favorite comics so when Brian John Mitchell asked me to draw a short Cerebus script that he’d written I said, “okey dokey”. Here’s a drawing that appears on page two of theĀ  comic. Hopefully the finished product will appear in the October issue of the Cerebus Newsletter… but who knows really?
