On Friday May 13th We Car Arts presents “An Evening At The Races!” where you can bet on a horse race for charity. The races are shown on television but the excitement is right there in the room.

Each winner gets a one of a kind hand painted piggy bank containing a $25 purse. Pictured above is Edgar Allan Pig painted by yours truly.

In addition to the race there’s also a buffet and again, it’s all for charity. Check it out if you’re in the Dayton area on May 13th!

For more details on the event visit the We Care Arts website here.

Garden Party!

Wednesday, April 20th, 2016

On Saturday May 7th We Care Arts will be hosting a Garden Party from 10 am until 2 pm here in Kettering, Ohio.

I won’t be there as it is Free Comic Book Day and therefore will be handing out free comics at Mavericks. But if you’re in the area you should totally make a day out of it and visit We Care AND Mavericks!

Pick up some stuff for a Mother’s Day gift (which is the very next day)!

I painted this flower pot featuring my favorite Dark Lord of the Sith that will be for sale at We Care on the 7th.

A couple of years ago my friend Kenn Minter mentioned that he’d be interested in collaborating on a comic together and I said sure! The idea was for each of us to produce a dirty, low brow story that might not have a place in our regular publications. I agreed and off we went to work on them!

As it happens, life has a way of punching you in the gut from time to time and when it did so to me I kind of forgot about the whole thing for awhile. Well, I bounced back and last year asked Kenn if he was still down for working on the book. Luckily he was indeed and we were able to put this little gem together for your reading pleasure.

It contains two autobiographical short stories, one written by Kenn and drawn by me and one written by me and drawn by Kenn (plus a bonus one page comic written and drawn by me) all if full color! That’s right, my very first full color comic!

It will be making it’s debut at S.P.A.C.E. in Columbus next weekend so if you’re at the show be sure to stop by my table and pick up a copy. If you can’t make it you can always purchase a copy for $4 postage included thru paypal at veggiedogsaturn (at) gmail (dot) com or through the tried and true method of sending well concealed cash to me at 3315 S. Smithville Rd. Dayton, Oh. 45420.

My friend Goo digs it.

This flip comic features two spooky fun stories! Coffin Blind was written by me and drawn by Nate McDonough and The Witch’s Wager was written by Nate and drawn by me. In case you’re not familiar with Nate’s amazing comic Grixly (among others) check out his site here.

Two dollars gets you a copy (shipping included). You can barely buy a glass of water for two dollars these days but here we are offering you this beautiful miniature sequential art graphic narrative shipped to your very own home!

This could be the best day of your life.

After We Shot the Grizzly

This new mini-comic is my adaptation of one of my favorite songs by The Handsome Family. The words are the lyrics to the song of the same title from their Last Days of Wonder LP (with songs about Nikola Tesla, bowling alley bars, ghosts and falling in love with strangers at airports it is a great record start to finish).

In case you’re unfamiliar, The Handsome Family is Brett and Rennie Sparks. Rennie writes the lyrics, Brett writes the music and they both sing and play.

So, last year I wrote to Rennie Sparks to ask her permission to do this comic and to my delight she responded, “Go for it!” so off I went and did it!

Now it’s done and is $3 postpaid to anywhere in North America. Send well concealed cash to the address at the bottom of this page for this thirty page black and white mini-comic with full color cover.

Also, for some truly great music that some describe as American Folk or Country Gothic (I just call it awesome!) visit the Handsome Family’s website here.

UPDATE:
So, I just found out this wasn’t a new idea. A cartoonist from the UK by the name of Dan Berry already did it… and did it much better. I guess it’s true “There’s nothing new under the sun.”
Check out an example of Dan’s fantastic work here.
